　　I disagree with the statement.  I believe that prisons divide dangerous people from civilfans .serve as representation of what transpires to criminals, as well as serve as a rehabilitation center. Since criminals might be detrimental to public safety, they should be secured from the general populace to maintain status quo.

　　Specifically, a prison sentence serves as an example to potential law offenders who might consider the repercussions before committing similar crimes. If a wrongdoer makes a serious mistake, then he or she should be punished and rehabilitated to make up for their actions. It's nearly impossible to reduce crime rate just by educating offenders.

　　Furthermore，other than the segregation purpose.a prison should serve as an educational center for prisoners to distinguish right from wrong and eventually restore eligible inmates.

　　To sum up.prisons have their definite functions in society and need to carry on providing their services.
